About Chrome Profile Locker

An open-source Manifest V3 Chromium extension that locks the current browser profile behind a PIN or password.

Chrome Profile Locker helps you step away from an unlocked browser without losing tab state. Secrets never leave your device as plaintext.

What it does

Re-locks on browser start, idle timeout, or Quick Lock shortcut
Cover-tab model: other open tabs are not reloaded on unlock
Optional TOTP 2FA and a one-time recovery code
Local audit log and rate limiting
Works offline; no accounts or cloud backend

Honest security limits

Someone with physical access to an unlocked device can still disable or remove the extension, delete the profile, or boot another OS. This tool deters casual or opportunistic access. It is not a replacement for full-disk encryption or OS login.
